The same answer, over and over
The person was excellent. Their English was good. And in the meetings that counted, they were still being overlooked. When we asked why, they nearly always gave the same answer: my English is not good enough. It nearly always was.
What was actually happening was narrower and more fixable. Under pressure the answer lost its order. The point arrived late. The position was softened until it sounded like a guess. The room decided something about the person that had nothing to do with their ability.
So it stopped being treated as a language question and started being measured as a performance question. Five dimensions, assessed live, under real pressure, on a fixed 100 point scale. That is the SignalCheck.

Michael has spent 16 years diagnosing how professionals communicate under pressure, 11 of them inside global technology companies, assessing every level from engineer to president across APAC. The five dimensions, the pressure scenarios and the scoring bands all come from those sessions.
He founded SignalCheck Ltd to put the method into an instrument: the same scenarios, the same five dimensions, the same bands, every time, for every person.
What “SignalCheck expert” means
Every report is read by a trained reviewer before it is delivered. A SignalCheck expert is a reviewer trained and certified on the methodology by the founder: the five dimensions, the fixed bands, the scenario set, and the review protocol. Reviewers work from the session recording and the draft report, and they can change a result. The method is documented so that a report reviewed today is comparable to a report reviewed next year, whoever reviews it.
The method does not depend on one person
The five dimensions are fixed. The bands are fixed. Every report is read by a SignalCheck expert before it is delivered. That is what makes a result from today comparable to a result three months from now, and to the rest of a team.
